— THE CYBER PANDEMIC —
In 2018, Singapore faced her worst cyberattack yet. Hackers infiltrated the computers of SingHealth and stole the personal particulars of 1.5 million patients. In 2020, the surge in cyberattack not only continued as Singapore made her largest shift to remote working during the COVID-19 pandemic, it also made evident that cybercrime remains a concern.
As a result of these attacks, the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) has placed a greater emphasis on the need for cyber security professionals. Unfortunately, many Singaporeans think a career switch to the cybersecurity industry is intimidating at best, and gruelling IT work at worst.
